With the financial assistance of HOPEworldwide of Canada, the HOPE Centre in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivore is ready to open it's doors this September.
HOPE Center Abidjan
The HOPE Preschool Centre will provide essential services to vulnerable children and their families affected by war and the effects of HIV\Aids. These include orphans, children in poor, single-parent families or those children who have been abandoned. Various programs have been developed to meet the essential needs of these vulnerable children in a safe, stimulating environment that will have a permanent and positive impact on their lives.
Construction of the HOPE Preschool Centre in Abidjan started in the fall of 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Solange Balou. To support the project, the Montreal chapter of HOPEworldwide of Canada carried out a creative fundraising campaign online and through social media. They raised $10 000 dollars for the centre. The funds were used to complete construction, furnish and paint the centre and to set up the courtyard.
Services at the center
In addition to providing educational programs to pre-school and school-aged children, The HOPE Centre in Abidjan will offer the following services:
Providing food and other daily essentials to the children
Providing books, uniforms and school supplies
Guidance and psychological support for children affected by the recent war and by the scourge of HIV\Aids
Medical supplies and health services for individuals in need, affected by HIV\Aids
Annual fundraising drive
Starting this year, the Montreal chapter will be launching an annual fundraising campaign for the HOPE Centre in Abidjan. This year it will run from September 29 to December 20 2013. The goal this year is to raise $10,000. When the HOPE Centre opens its doors in September, money will be needed to feed the children, provide them with school supplies, pay the teachers‘ salaries and more. With the help of generous donors like you, we are confident we can exceed this target.
HOPEworldwide Canada and its Montreal chapter are proud to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment to children and families in Abidjan affected by the difficult socio - economic situation in Ivory Coast. The aim is to give them hope for a better future.
