This past June 22nd , volunteers from the Halifax Chapter of HOPE worldwide Canada joined together to raise awareness and support for programs that will help strengthen their community. This was the teams 4th time entering the cross-Canada “HOPE in Action” fundraiser. They showed their “hope in action” by raising more funds than in any of the previous 3 years of this national fundraiser – raising over $ 11,500 dollars – during
their 5km Seaside Stroll through beautiful Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia!
We are so grateful for our supporters, donors and volunteers – without you, we would not be able to do what we are able to do! Thank you!
This years funds will be used to strengthen our communities by tackling food insecurity by assisting the local Sunday Supper Program and the Dartmouth Community Fridge; providing assistance for Newcomers to Canada; supporting youth with Back-to-School Backpacks; helping a School in Kathmandu Nepal plus other HOPE worldwide Canada - Halifax programs.
Here’s what a few of our volunteers had to say about that day:
Chris Peters: “The ability to help people in need around the world in any capacity is fulfilling.”
Travelle Barrett: “I support HOPE worldwide Canada…which is very fulfilling because I am using my talents to
help.”
Barend Koorzen: “ What was most encouraging to me was to spend time with like-minded people who want to
change the community around them and make it a better place.”
Joel Best: “Volunteering with HOPE worldwide Canada really gives me the opportunity to give back to the
community, even in small ways…it's about showing love, compassion, and kindness to those in need…”
