Since Hurricane Irma made landfall on the island of Barbuda last week, it has cut a path of destruction across the Caribbean and Florida’s Gulf Coast. It started as a Category 5 hurricane with winds of up to 185 mph, severely damaging 95% of the buildings on the islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy. It knocked out power for millions in the Caribbean, destroying electrical grids, water supplies and other critical infrastructure. At least 34 lives have been lost so far.
HOPE worldwide’s Global Disaster Disaster Response Team have been in constant touch with our partners in St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, Haiti and other locations affected. Let us keep praying for the lives lost and the millions of survivors. The are in urgent need of food, drinking water, shelter, and emergency medical care. The recovery and rebuilding process will likely last months, if not years throughout the region.
The people in the Caribbean desperately need your help. Please make a donation today to our Caribbean Disaster Relief Fund and provide hope to those affected. Working with the HOPE worldwide Disaster Relief Fund, your gift will allow us to provide immediate relief to those affected by the recent hurricanes in the Caribbean.
