It may have been chilly outside on December 15 but it was full of warmth and good cheer inside the Rosslyn Senior Place as HOPE worldwide Canada, Edmonton chapter sang Christmas Carols to the seniors.
35 volunteers, adults and children, gathered to help the seniors begin the festive season singing many Christmas Carols. The 30 seniors enjoyed listening and singing along with us. This is lower than our usually attendance because of a scheduling conflict.
Some of the highlights of the singing were the children shaking bells to “Jingle Bells”, one of our volunteers drumming to “The Little Drummer Boy” and getting the whole crowd involved with “The 12 days of Christmas”. We finished with, “We wish you a Merry Christmas”.
When the singing was finished the children handed out treats and the adults engaged in conversation. Some of the encouraging words we heard were;
“It’s great to see the youth so engaged and genuinely enjoying themselves while singing”
“I remember you from last year”
We heard Thank you many times over but the most encouraging comment was:
“We look forward to you all coming each year”
That encourages to come back every year, to warm their hearts and see their smiles.
So till next year….
