Edmonton’s HOPE in Action Day was spent at Kids Kottage. This has become an annual event for our Chapter where a large number of our volunteers spend time cleaning and organizing the Kids Kottage donation garage.
Volunteers were kept busy organizing their many donations of diapers, clothing, books, toys, toiletries and much more. We were also able to help out in the kitchen, replenishing their supply of baked cookies and muffins for the staff and children.
At HOPE worldwide Canada, we believe in getting all involved, especially our youth. One of our 13 year old volunteers, Sybilla Balian, commented, “That was a lot of fun!”
After volunteers spent several hours working , Gauri Jaisi, Kids Kottage Coordinator of Program Supports was very grateful, taking time to say thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work.
Kids Kottage is a valuable organization in Edmonton which helps provide temporary lodging for up to 72 hours for children in crisis. They offer a crisis nursery, FASD respite, a basic shelf program (which teaches how to shop and cook on a limited budget) and follow up programs.
Volunteering at Kids Kottage in a frequent event for Edmonton HOPE worldwide Canada volunteers and they love being able to take care of these responsibilities so that staff can focus their much needed attention on the children in need.
